Derby Cancer Self Help Group
About us
We’re a friendly self-help group in Derby, for people who have experienced cancer.
Who we are
People who have experienced cancer, getting together.
Derby Cancer Self Help Group is just what the name says: a self-help group, in Derby, for people who have experienced cancer.
Each month we have a meeting, giving the opportunity for discussion. We also have plans for various events on future occasions.
Our group meets to give people who have experienced cancer an opportunity to get together for mutual help, support and information.
Why the group exists
Four simple things.
Everything we do comes back to the same few words: mutual help, support, information, and the opportunity for discussion.
-
Mutual help
Self-help means helping one another. It’s people who have experienced cancer, there for each other.
-
Support
Getting together gives us the opportunity to support one another.
-
Information
Meeting up is also an opportunity to share information with each other.
-
Discussion
Each month we have a meeting, giving the opportunity for discussion.
Our motto
“Have enough courage to start and enough heart to finish.”
It takes courage to start anything new — and that includes coming along to a group for the first time. If it feels that way to you, that’s perfectly all right.
Heart is what carries us on from there. Courage and heart: that’s the spirit we meet in, and you’d be very welcome to share it.
What we do
A meeting every month, and events to come.
Our monthly meeting
We meet every second Wednesday of the month at 10.30am, in the community room at Normanton Lodge, Stenson Road, Derby, DE23 1NR.
Future events
We also have plans for various events on future occasions. Notice and times of future events will be given well in advance.
